Teacher: Elizabeth Rodgers

Grade: 1

Our amazing teacher, Elizabeth Rodgers, is the most caring, thoughtful, generous, and dedicated teacher I’ve ever met. She was my son’s 1st grade teacher four years ago, and we were blessed with her teaching my daughter this year. Her huge heart is such an inspiration to me and countless others. I’m sad that she is retiring this year and won’t be able to teach my youngest two children, but we are forever grateful for the past four years with her in our lives. I’m happy that she’s going to have “free time” in retirement, but we will miss her dearly! We love her so much and think she deserves every bit of recognition for her dedication to Thompson School District! We love you, Mrs. Rodgers!

This wonderful woman is not just our son’s teacher, she is a second mom to 24 sweet little kindergartners. She handles big emotions from little people with grace, love, and the warmest hugs you’ll ever find. She works tirelessly to create enriching educational activities that engage and excite her dear “kinders,” building on their unique strengths and giving them confidence in areas that challenge them. Her students are happy and thriving because they know their teacher accepts, loves, and values each one of them. She is quite simply everything a parent hopes their child’s first teacher will be. Thank you, Mrs. Willett – you represent the very best of Thompson School District!

My teacher, Mrs. Wehage, means so much to me that I’d call her my mom if I could. She’s been with me since August, and we’ve shared so much with each other. She encouraged me to enter my first writing contest, she supports me in my activities outside school, and she’s always in the front of the classroom to help me when I need it. Mrs. Wehage and I have had a lot of fun experiences together. She is why I love to go to school every day.

Mrs. Glade is wonderful. Our son had her last year for kindergarten and we truly wish she could follow that class up the grades. She is so sweet, kind, beautiful, patient, and really helps each child in their unique way of learning. She has taken on “Be Strong, Be Fit” for our 5th grade girls using time she could use otherwise. Mrs. Glade, thank you for all you do for our children and the school. You are what we hope to have every year for our children.

2017 National Teacher Appreciation Week ~ Layne Arakaki

5.10.17 Zach_Arakaki, CBMS

Thompson School District is proud to celebrate 2017 National Teacher Appreciation Week, May 7-13. All this week, we are featuring photos and inspirational words submitted by students and families throughout the district.

Teacher: Layne Arakaki

Student: Zach

School: Conrad Ball Middle School

Grade: 8

Layne Arakaki is my favorite teacher for many reasons. One of these reasons includes that he tries to have a personal relationship with every kid he teaches. On the same token though, he knows the boundary of teacher and friend inside of school. Another reason he is my favorite is because he takes time out of his own life to help out with other school and personal events. He runs Student Council and helps at all the events. He also went to some of my football games and that meant a lot to me. Lastly, he always wants to make sure that everyone is getting the lesson he is teaching, even the kids that don’t seem to care. This is why Layne Arakaki is my favorite teacher.

2017 National Teacher Appreciation Week ~ Katie Pfalzgraff

Thompson School District is proud to celebrate 2017 National Teacher Appreciation Week, May 7-13. All this week, we are featuring photos and inspirational words submitted by students and families throughout the district.

Teacher: Katie Pfalzgraff

Students: Teagan & Avery

School: New Vision Charter School

Grade: 2

We have been incredibly blessed by the amazing teachers and staff at New Vision Charter School. We were thrilled to have Mrs. Pfalzgraff as our twins’ 2nd grade teacher this year. She has been incredible! She is not only a wonderful teacher, but from day one I have witnessed her kindness, compassion and genuine caring for all of the students. I see that needs are being discovered and addressed in the classroom and throughout the school.

The line of communication has been amazing. We find it incredibly easy talk to Mrs. Pfalzgraff and that has been key for our parent/teacher partnership. She has given me tools/knowledge so that I can support what is being taught in the classroom at home. I appreciate knowing that I can talk to her at any time to help address questions and/or concerns that we may have.

Our girls just adore Mrs. Pfalzgraff as well. Not only are they learning oodles of information this year but they know if they ever need anything that they can talk to her and, as a mom, I appreciate that immensely. It is comforting to know the girls feel supported by their teacher and aren’t afraid to talk to her or ask questions. When they jump in the car after school, I love hearing everything they learned that day from ancient Egypt, Native Americans, Oregon Trail, butterflies, and the facts go on and on. I love seeing my kids so excited about the information they are learning! For that, I only have Mrs. Pfalzgraff to thank for doing such an amazing job!

Teachers have an incredibly important job, one that I have the utmost respect and am grateful for. Teaching isn’t just reading the curriculum but goes far beyond that. Making learning fun, adding in caring, concern and compassion for each student, that makes a teacher great. Teachers are pouring into our children’s future and helping us mold them into the adults they will become. We are grateful for amazing teachers like Mrs. Pfalzgraff. I don’t know how she does it all, but we can’t thank her enough for all she does!
