Thompson School District will soon be accepting applicants for the 2016-2017 Senior Citizen Property Tax Work-Off Program. The program provides eligible senior citizens in the community with an opportunity to provide service in district schools and earn wages that will be applied to their county property tax bill.
Eligibility requirements for the program include the following:
- Applicants must be 62 years of age or older.
- Applicants must own and live in the home for which they are applying.
- Applicants must live within the Thompson School District boundary area.
- Only one person from each household may apply.
Participants will be paid for a maximum of 30 hours at the Colorado minimum wage rate.
The call-in date to participate in the program is Wednesday, September 21, 2016. Citizens who are interested in participating should call 613-5072 on that date. Only calls received on that day will be eligible to participate in the program. A total of sixty-six names will be drawn from those eligible to determine this year’s participants. The district’s volunteer office will work with participants to place them in schools for service.
