The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will be hosting a national Common Assignment Study (CAS) demonstration day in Thompson School District! Due to our incredible and growing implementation of CAS, Gates wants to showcase how CAS can be implemented systematically and with great success for students and teachers. This is the first visit of its kind in the project so far, which truly speaks to our tremendous work!
We have scheduled the site visit for Tuesday, March 8th, 2016 from 8:30a to 3:30p. Most of the activities will be taking place at Lucile Erwin Middle School, where we have a critical mass of teachers instructing the units on that day.
The visit will involve some classroom visits, observation of teachers engaging in the student work analysis protocol, a conversation with practitioners from across the district, and a focused conversation with district leaders.
Some attendees may travel to Loveland High School in the afternoon to observe CAS in action in a high school.
There will be people visiting from the Gates Foundation—program officers who are interested in engaging in this work in other states—and people from other organizations. LDC.org will definitely be there- SREB, the Battelle Foundation, and Facing History have also been invited to attend this event.
